Ian Borak

Ian has been playing the drums for the past 18 years and has been teaching since he was 15 years old. Ian holds a Bachelor of Music, Magna Cum Laude from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington and Diploma in Jazz Performance from Mt. Royal College. As an experienced private instructor and master class teacher, Ian is keenly aware of how to engage students and how to motivate them to perform their best.

Ianʼs teaching career has seen him work with students as young as 5 and as experienced as 70 years of age. He has served on the musical staff of the world famous Calgary Stampede, and he learned the art of ensemble performance while studying with the legendary Julian Priester. It is Ianʼs goal to provide every student with a strong foundation of percussion fundamentals to allow them to pursue any musical genre or style.
